Create a Shaving cream Bed

To create a shaving cream bed you need to have a few things:

  • Cheapest foam shaving cream

  • Large plate or dish to hold shaving cream

  • A large straight edge that is longer than the diameter of plate or dish so you can level the shaving cream

  • Water to dilute the shaving cream so it is creamier

Step 1

Spray out some shaving cream and mix about a 1/4 cup of water into the shaving cream

Step 4

Use your straight edge to flatten the shaving cream

This is what your finished shaving cream bed should look like. It is very important that you get as many of the air bubble out of the shaving cream before dying because it will leave spots on your disc where there is no dye.

Sprinkle Dye

Tools needed for applying dye

  • Dye powder (I use Idye Poly)
  • Zip lock bag to use as storage for dye powder
  • Some latex gloves to keep your hands from being colored
  • A drop cloth is also recommended so you don't dye the surface you are working on

Step 2

Select the color dye you want and sprinkle it so it looks similar to this

Step 3

I like to spray the powder dye after sprinkling it on the disc so that the dye really sinks into the plastic on the disc.

Step 4

You can see by the powder here that once you spray it with water more of the dye begins to show up

Final Product

I like to push the disc down just a little bit after placing it on the shaving cream to make sure the dye touches the disc. Sometimes placing a glass with water in it for weight is good to have the dye pull across the disc for some added style.

This is the final product from this dye job. I left the disc on they dye for about 2 to 3 hours to get these colors. For darker more saturated colors leave the disc on the dye for a longer period. I would suggest not longer than 8 hours for star style plastic and 10 hours for champion style plastic.
