Shaving Cream Dyes

One of the easiest ways to customize your disc is by dyeing it on a bed of shaving cream. Shaving cream dyes are great for giving any disc a splash of color in an abstract way. There are a few different techniques you can use with shaving cream with will give you interesting designs.

Powder Shaving Cream Dye

The Background design on this disc is done by using the powder shaving cream technique.

The powder shaving cream technique is one of the most popular dye styles. If you love space than this is the technique you need to learn. As the disc sinks into the shaving cream the dye is pulled across the disc and creates a warp drive like effect.

SPIRAL GALAXY DYE

I created this dye style because I wanted a Galaxy design but I didn't want to dye 90% of my disc black. I came across some inverted galaxy images and knew that is how I could have the best of both worlds.

CONFETTI DYE

The confetti dye is gives your discs POP. This technique is done by sprinkling littler amounts of dye on the shaving cream bed so that the original color of the disc still dominates.

Frosting Shaving Cream Dye Technique

If you've seen a dyed disc on the disc golf course than it probably looks similar to this design. The frosting shaving cream dye is a great dye style to learn on. If you can decorate a cake with frosting from a plastic bag then you can create something like the disc above. Instead of using the dye powder on top of the shaving cream bed you mix the dye powder with water and create bags of shaving cream mixed with that dye mixture. Then you use these bags of colored shaving cream to draw on the shaving cream bed to create your design that the disc will be laid down on.
